FIRST WORLD WAR MEMORIAL WINDOWS
The church of St Mary’s, in the Cambridgeshire village of Swaffham Prior is notable for two reasons – it is one of the few examples of two-churches-in-one-churchyard remaining in England, and it has remarkable stained glass windows installed to commemorate 23 men associated with the village community who were killed in the First World War.

As the vicar at the time of their dedication in December 1919 said:
“We feel sure that the two War Windows and the Peace Window will be objects of much interest. It is doubtful if anything of the sort will be seen elsewhere”
Rev’d Lawrence Fisher, vicar 1897 – 1934
